1. We believe in God —
God the Father — God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. 1st John 5:7.
2. We believe that Jesus Christ was and is God from all
eternity as the Word. John 1:1, 2, 14.
3. We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person in the
Trinity, is God. Romans 15:13; Acts 1:2; I John 5:7.
4. We believe that God created all things, including man.
Col. 1:16; Gen. 1:1; 2:7.
5. We believe in the sovereignty of God, in the salvation of
men and in all things and that nothing can come to pass contrary to
his divine will. Isaiah 40:12-31; Eph. 1:4-12; Rom. 9:15-16.
6. We believe there is a heaven and a hell and that they are
real places. Rev. 4:1,2; Rev. 20:10-15.
7. We believe in the total depravity of man. There is nothing
good in him until God gives him a new heart, until God makes him a
new creation in Christ. Isa. 1:5-6; Ps. 58:3; Jer. 17:9; Rom. 3:9,
20; Ps. 51:5.
8. We believe that salvation of men is altogether of grace —
God’s grace — and not by any good works of man. Eph. 2:8-10; Titus
3:5.
This salvation comes as the result of God’s choosing. Eph. 1:4-5.
For this choosing and salvation to become effective, it was
necessary for Christ to die for our sins and rise from the dead the
third day. Eph. 1:7; Acts 3:18; Acts 17:3; 1st Cor. 15:17-20.
We also believe it is necessary for man to hear the gospel of
Christ, to come to REPENTANCE and FAITH in Christ before salvation
is consummated. 2nd Thess. 2:13; John 3:14-18, 36; Acts 20:21.
9. We believe in Evangelism — the simple, scriptural
proclamation of the gospel of Christ. Matt. 28:19-20; 1st Cor.
15:1-4.
10. We believe in the security of the believer. After he is
born again he is a child of God and can never cease to be a child of
God. John 14:10, 11; John 6:37; John 10:27-30; Col. 1:27.
11. We believe that Jesus founded the Church while He was yet
on earth and ADDED to the Church on the day of Pentecost. Matt.
16:18; 18:17; Heb. 2:12; Acts 2:41,47.
12. We believe that only a local Church founded on the same
principles as the Church Jesus founded while He was yet on earth can
be called a true Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, that it is a
self-governing body and that it must ever be free from all outside
human control or dictation. 1st Peter 5:2, 3; Acts 11:22; Acts 16:4,
5; Acts 15:22-28.
13. We believe that baptism is immersion. It is to show forth
the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord. It also shows our
own death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Acts 8:38; Col.
2:12; Rom. 6:3, 4. It is not for salvation, but is a work of
righteousness. Matt. 3:15.
14. We believe that one must be scripturally baptized
(immersed) to first enter a New Testament Church. 1st Cor. 12:13;
Eph. 4:5; Col. 1:24.
15. We believe that the Lord’s supper is a local Church
ordinance; (I Cor. 11:2) and can only be observed in the Church; (I
Cor. 11:18, 20) and that it is restricted to the members of the
Church observing it; we also believe that it is threefold in nature:
a supper of commemoration or a memorial supper, a supper of
proclamation, and a supper of anticipation. I Cor. 11:25, 26.
16. We believe members may move from one church to another of
like faith and order by letter or perhaps in some rare cases be
received by statement. Romans 16:1-2.
17. We believe in both home and foreign missions. To be an
obedient church, every church must have a part in sending out
missionaries. God requires that missionaries be sent directly by a
local New Testament Church. Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8; Acts 13:2, 3.
18. We believe in tithing. The Old Testament commanded it.
The Lord Jesus endorsed it. Mal. 3:10; Luke 11:42.
19. We believe in the Premillenial return of our Lord, first,
to catch away his own to be forever with Him; and then to return to
rule the world in person for one thousand years. 1st Thess. 4:14-18;
Rev. 20:4; Luke 1:32; Zech. 14:4, 9.
20. We believe in the judgment of rewards for God’s children.
1st Cor. 3:11-15.
21. We believe in the judgment of damnation for those who
will not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev.
20:5, 11-15. |
