A Thought From Our Pastor:

Blessed is the man that walks contrary to this world.
Psalms 1:1 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."

People in their own minds want to be happy, happiness is a human desire that all have, however it is seldom found. I think in order to have something like happiness we must first define what it is we are searching for, so for one to have happiness one must find out what happiness is. What is happiness, money, having material things, having a family, being the boss or etc.? God defines happiness is being blessed and being blessed is the ability to walk contrary to this world. The only way to be happy is to be blessed of God and to walk according to godliness and not in the course of this world. The world will make it appear as though happiness is anything but godliness, however the world and its happiness will burn in the eternal lake of fire. For a Christian to be happy they must walk according to the law of God and not according to this world. A Christian will never truly be happy walking according to this world and the lust it has to live in the will of Satan.

God said we are blessed, and we certainly are because in order to be saved, God had to bless us with salvation and beloved that is the blessings of all blessings. The bible concludes we are saved by grace Ephesians 2:8 and not of our own choosing but of God’s choosing. God could have chosen to save any of millions of others rather than me but He chose to save me instead of them, and that is a blessing. Being a child of God is my blessing from Him, so now it is my turn to bless Him in my life and to show Him my gratitude for His love and grace. The happiest time of my life is to bring praise and glory to the One who brought it to me and beloved I cannot do that if I am walking according to the course of this world. Some Christians just cannot understand God is not praise by those who fail to walk in this life according to His law. Christians walking according to the course of this world may be somewhat happy because they are feeding their old nature but in return they are spiritually unhappy because they are starving their spiritual man. Psalms 26:4-5 "I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. (5.) I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked." This is the vow we need to make to ourselves and more so to God. Beloved if your spiritual man is on life support from starvation it is time to change your life and start feeding it, and that starts in church. Those that do not attend church are not going to be spiritually fed because church is where the teachings of God are at; church is where a good well balanced spiritual meal is found.

Psalms 1:3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." This is what a happy Christian can say; I am planted like a tree with well grounded and strong roots and will not be moved. Beloved you have shallow roots if you fail to attend church on regular basis and if you are congregating with the world, and you are if you are not in church every meeting. We as a church go to great lengths to make our sermons available on CD, in print, and on the internet, however never make the mistake of substituting these things for church because it is not the same. Nothing substitutes for church attendance, reading your bible, family bible study, listing to sermons and etc. are very wonderful things and are a blessing, however if you think it is just as good as going to church you could not be more sadly wrong. Those that attend church on regular basis are always much happy because they are following the will of God and that is what makes us all happy.

A Thought By: C. H. Spurgeon:

We May Speak for God
"Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before Me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as My mouth" Jeremiah 15:19

Poor Jeremiah! Yet why do we say so? The weeping prophet was one of the choicest servants of God and honored by Him above many. He was hated for speaking the truth. The word which was so sweet to him was bitter to his hearers, yet he was accepted of his LORD. He was commanded to abide in his faithfulness, and then the LORD would continue to speak through him. He was to deal boldly and truthfully with men and perform the LORD's winnowing work upon the professors of his day, and then the LORD gave him this word: "Thou shalt be as my mouth."

What an honor! Should not every preacher, yea, every believer, covet it? For God to speak by us, what a marvel! We shall speak sure, pure truth; and we shall speak it with power. Our word shall not return void; it shall be a blessing to those who receive it, and those who refuse it shall do so at their peril. Our lips shall feed many. We shall arouse the sleeping and call the dead to life.

O dear reader, pray that it may be so with all the sent servants of our LORD.

God's chain and God's plan:

God's ways are unsearchable.
God's judgments are past finding out.
God's compassions are infinite.
God's power is almighty.
God's wisdom is unerring.
"I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted." Job 42:2
Providences are long chains with many links in them. If one link were missing, the event would fail. But it is God's chain and God's plan. The thing is fixed.
The outcome is not doubtful.
