A Thought For The Week: The Egyptian dog! The old Puritan pastors frequently compared their
hearers to the Egyptian dog that ran to the Their hearers came up to the meeting-house, and
heard the minister, took a little sip of the gospel, which sufficed them, and
then they were off. One preacher said that he wished they were like
the fishes-not come and lap at the stream, as the dog did, but swim in it, and
live in it. There are too many, in this age, who are content
with hearing a little of Christ's love; a sip by the way is all that they seem
to need. But it would be far better if you could come up to
"I would have my soul sunk over its masthead
in a sea of love to Christ. I would be
sunken fifty fathoms deep in the mighty shoreless
ocean of his love, so that there might be nothing left of me, and that I
might be swallowed up in love to Christ, and in Christ's love to me." By: The

A Thought From C. H. Spurgeon:
"And
I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her
seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise
his heel" Genesis 3:15. This is
the first promise to fallen man. It contains the whole gospel and the essence
of the covenant of grace. It has been in great measure fulfilled. The seed of
the woman, even our LORD Jesus, was bruised in His heel, and a terrible
bruising it was. How terrible will be the final bruising of the serpent's
head! This was virtually done when Jesus took away sin, vanquished death, and
broke the power of Satan; but it awaits a still fuller accomplishment at our LORD's second advent and in the Day of Judgment. To us
the promise stands as a prophecy that we shall be afflicted by the powers of
evil in our lower nature, and thus bruised in our heel; but we shall triumph
in Christ, who sets His foot on the old serpent's head. Throughout this year
we may have to learn the first part of this promise by experience, through
the temptations of the devil and the unkindness of the ungodly, who are his seed. They may so bruise us that we may limp
with our sore heel; but let us grasp the second part of the text, and we
shall not be dismayed. By faith let us rejoice that we shall still reign in
Christ Jesus, the woman's seed. |

A Thought From Our Pastor: Admonishing the Believer. 1 Corinthians 4:14 “I write not these things to
shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.” Paul was writing to the church at Paul also said in our text scripture “but as my
beloved sons I warn you.” His beloved son would be one saved and taught under
his ministry. Paul was one that was always telling churches and Christians
their sins in order to correct them, and apparently like today they also took
it as shame instead of correction. Folks we are Preachers of God’s word and
that means we are instructors, proclaimer’s, and if
we do not do this then we are not doing our job as Pastors. Correction is
instruction it is not to bring shame to you at all and if shame is brought it
is your own fault because you are shamed by what you are doing or have done
and cannot handle it in your own mind. Some have grown hardened hearts and
this is the reason for the shame. However, the Lord said in 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (17.) That the
man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works.” I do not see shame in there; however that is
how most Christians take it today. Have a

A Couple Of Thoughts: I am weak and ignorant, full of sin and compassed
with infirmity. But I bless God that He has in some measure shown me the
power of eternal things, and by free and sovereign grace stopped me in that
career of vanity and sin in which, to all outward appearance, I was fast
hurrying down to the chambers of death. By
Joseph Philpot Blessed are they who go to their Lord outside the
camp, leaving the world's religion as well as its sin in obedience to that
sacred call: "Therefore,
come out from them and separate yourselves from them. Don't touch their
filthy things, and I will welcome you. And I will be your Father, and you
will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." 2 Cor. 6:17-18 By Spurgeon |
