Is God Sovereign or not?

Romans 8:14 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

Who are "the sons of God"? Are not these "sons of God" all of them that are saved and those that will be saved? Indeed without a doubt it is. So according to this verse of the Holy script every child of God is lead to that salvation by "the Spirit of God". Let’s also note the first part of this verse, "For as many as are led by". By this do we not learn that every child of God was first, led into salvation by the Holy Spirit? With this being said, should we not assume that before one is saved, the Holy Spirit must lead them? If this is all true (and it is) then should we not reach the conclusion that salvation is truly of the Lord? Indeed without a doubt!

Now that we know that salvation is of the Lord. Why do men try to do God’s work and save sinners? Or worse lead them in the wrong direction? Since salvation is the work of God then why does man invent ways contrary to God’s word for people to be saved? Do we know who God is going to convict? No, we do not. As Pastors and Ministers we need to proclaim the word of God and leave salvation to the one who saves, the Lord. We need to trust the Lord to save sinners and stop using terminology to falsely entice people into thinking their saved when their not. Terms like; "make a decision for Christ, choose heaven or hell, pray this prayer, and so on. None of these techniques are scriptural, not one time are they used, nor are they one example of their usage in the scripture. Every time we have an example of someone coming to know the Lord it is by faith. Let’s use two examples; (1.) Philip and the eunuch in Acts chapter 8, did Philip use one of these man made techniques? No, Philip simply asked do you believe. (2.) Paul and Silas in Acts 16, the jailer asked how to be saved, did they use one of these man made techniques? No, they simply told his to believe. Brethren, if we do our job and proclaim His word in truth, then He will save sinners and bring them in for us.

God is sovereign in every way. Eph. 1:11c says "who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:" He knows who the elect are, because He chose them. Salvation is His to give not ours to try false terminology and man made techniques to accomplish. He has not lost one; he will save as many as He convicts. God is sovereign and can on His own accomplish the task of salvation. We need to worry less about numbers and more about the needs of the assembly over which God has made us overseers.
